John Fergie - Curator

John Fergie is a respected East Lothian historian who has built an extensive collection of historic photographs and stories documenting North Berwick and the surrounding area over more than 100 years. His work preserves the people, places, and moments that have shaped the community across generations.

He is the author of five books exploring North Berwick and Dirleton’s rich heritage and has curated several exhibitions showcasing his unique collection. In this exhibition, John presents the story of North Berwick High Street and its evolution over time. Visitors can also explore carefully assembled folders of photographs offering a fascinating glimpse into everyday life in the area throughout the decades.

2027 Heritage Calendar – Now Available

To accompany the Views of the Past (Heritage Through The Lens) exhibition, John has created an outstanding 2027 calendar featuring a specially selected series of historic photographs from his remarkable collection.

The calendar tells North Berwick’s story across the decades through twelve beautifully curated images, each offering a unique glimpse into the town’s past.
